Rachael Sutcliffe — Family Law Solicitor

I joined Farnworth Rose in 2026, having specialised exclusively in family law since qualifying as a solicitor in 2018.

My work covers the full range of family law: divorce and dissolution of civil partnerships, financial remedy proceedings (including complex financial arrangements and nuptial agreements), and child arrangements and disputes involving children.

I handle matters from the first meeting through to conclusion, and I enjoy advocacy, so I'll often represent my clients at court hearings myself rather than handing over at the door.

That continuity matters more than people sometimes realise. Family law is often one of the most stressful periods of a client's life, and the last thing they need is to re-explain their situation to a new face at each stage.

My priority is that clients feel heard, supported and properly represented throughout, with advice that stays practical and solution-focused even when emotions are running high.

I developed my interest in family law during my training contract and have built my practice in it ever since. Following qualification I spent seven years at another firm in the area, building broad experience across all aspects of the field before joining Farnworth Rose, drawn by the firm's values and its commitment to client care and professional development.

Outside the office I spend my time with my husband and daughter. We love travelling and exploring, particularly in Scotland and the Lake District, and since buying a caravan when our daughter was born (her first trip was at eight weeks old), we've made the most of every chance to get away.

When I'm not travelling, I enjoy what my family kindly call my granny hobbies: crochet, knitting and gardening.
