Hazel Leonard — Commercial Property Lawyer

I joined Farnworth Rose in 2025 after more than 30 years in commercial and property law.

My work covers the full range of commercial property: sales and acquisitions, land transactions, leases for both landlords and tenants, easements, and development work. I also bring deeper experience in some less common areas including charitable land, allotments, and complex public sector property work, which has come from over a decade of running caseloads inside local authorities.

A lot of commercial property comes down to spotting the detail that doesn't shout for attention. Repair obligations, easements, boundaries, title quirks, and break clause conditions are where deals quietly succeed or fail. My role is to read the document properly before the client signs, raise the right questions, and give them clear information so they know what they're agreeing to.

I'm a qualified Property Lawyer with an LLB (Hons), LPC, and Masters in Law (LLM). My career has been split between private practice and the public sector. Recent senior locum roles include Oldham Council, Bradford Metropolitan Council, Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council, Hyndburn Borough Council, Melton Borough Council and Waverley Borough Council, where I dealt with complex projects up to £45m in value. Earlier in my career I was Head of Commercial Property at Walker Foster, and I've held senior conveyancing and team management roles at firms including Steele Ford & Newton, Addleshaw Booth and Hammond Suddards.

Outside the office I spend most of my time with my son and walking and training my dogs. I also enjoy festivals, gigs, live music and the theatre with friends.
