Purpose of Job:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Paralegal to join our Private Client Legal Team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality legal and support to fee earners in the department to ensure the smooth running of client matters. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our legal services, providing essential support to both clients and legal professionals.
Job Specific Duties and Tasks
Client Communication – Attending client meetings, taking detailed instructions for wills, LPAs, and probate matters; providing progress updates throughout.
Handing specific projects for departmental development including but not limited to - Will bank reviews, data cleansing, process reviews, case management development, business development.
Drafting Legal Documents – Drafting wills (with some supervision), codicils, lasting powers of attorney, declarations of trust, and correspondence.
Estate Administration – Assisting with probate applications, inheritance tax forms, estate accounts, asset collection, and distribution of estates.
Court & Registry Work – Filing probate applications with the Probate Registry, liaising with HMRC regarding IHT, and handling associated paperwork.
Trusts & Lifetime Planning – Supporting in the preparation of trust documents and basic estate planning under supervision.
File Management – Following file maintenance guidelines, ensuring all case files are kept up to date in line with compliance and procedural requirements.
Time Recording / Billing – Recording all chargeable time promptly; assisting with billing in both fixed fee and hourly rate matters.
Target Achievement – Progressing matters efficiently to meet agreed client timelines, turnaround targets, and departmental performance goals.
Ensuring Departmental Compliance – Ensuring the department operates in accordance with the companies risk and compliance plans.
Skills Required
Strong organisational and case management skills.
Experience of working in a law firm is desirable but not essential.
Excellent written communication with ability to draft clear, concise legal documents.
Empathetic and professional client manner, with ability to handle sensitive issues.
Ability to prioritise workloads and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Proficiency in case management systems and Microsoft Office.
Ability to take responsibility for projects and see these through to completion within allocated timeframes.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
A solid understanding of English law principles is advantageous but not mandatory.

Residential Conveyancing Assistant

Purpose of Job:
To support senior members of staff in our established conveyancing department.
This is a full-time role which would suit someone looking for an exciting, fast-paced and friendly environment with high quality work for a range of residential property matters.
Job Specific Duties and Tasks
All administrative work relating to pre and post completion of conveyancing matters to include but not limited to;
Administrative support to all senior members of the team
Liaising with internal team members, clients, introducers, brokers, estate agents, solicitors, mortgage lenders and other third parties as directed to progress matters
Providing regular updates to clients and third parties both by email and by phone
Greet clients in reception to take relevant paperwork from them
Liaising with mortgage lenders to request and chase up relevant information
Dealing with the post completion process of all conveyancing transactions
Maintaining and managing own and senior colleagues’ diaries and appointments
Achieving agreed team targets (as appropriate)
Proactively managing own tasks, daily workflow, post and e-mails
File management in line with company policy and legal compliance
Operating the case management system and other digital platforms
Undertaking any specific training when required to do so and overall to take responsibility towards self-development
To understand and comply at all times with the obligations set out by the Solicitors Regulations Authority and other relevant regulatory bodies, particularly the SRA Standards & Regulations, Solicitors Accounts Rules and Quality Conveyancing Scheme requirements.
Skills Required
6-12 months conveyancing experience is preferable
Ability to communicate effectively in a clear and friendly manner at all levels, through all mediums

Key Responsibilities
